BuildFilm2: Oxfordshire Day : Digital Video / Silent / 12min
Buildfilm is an ongoing project that aims to combine elements of both “structural cinema” and “poetic cinema” into a single genre/mode in the hopes of birthing a form of contemporary filmmaking that can properly deal with the media landscape we now face daily. Results may vary.
Oxfordshire Day acts in much the same capacity as Kenneth Anger’s Lucifer Rising, yet pushes the idea of magic into the context of the digital era. It’s structure, production, and playback all combine into a cinematic object which was used to set a curse on the historic English county of Oxfordshire. Like a spell, this object is now more or less invisible, existing as a file in the air.
